Here are the few remaining photos I didn’t manage to use on this feature during October. I can’t believe ten months of my project to photograph a year of my strolls around this popular Leeds park have passed.
There have been times when I have struggled to remain focused but here I am with just two months to go. Give or take a few days I am still pretty much on track, the maths gets easier as the year progresses.
October was an odd sort of month with lots of rain early on. The autumn colours in the park though have been just lovely. It has been so warm here in the north! with temperatures more like May and June. We have yet to have a big autumn storm blowing in off the Atlantic so the leaves are still clinging to the trees.
I may have mentioned that I love the spring and summer and have in the past let November and December get me down. A year wandering through woodland has helped with this problem. Signs of spring life are already showing around Temple Newsam with buds appearing already. Winter is a short necessary season, a few months and it will be gone.
I have intended doing something similar to this project for years and am so glad I have. The city of Leeds is steadily expanding and the city council all too often willing to allow it. Masses of building has already taken place around the edge of ‘the park’ and rumours abound about various future plans including housing and a permanent traveller site. Temple Newsam is pretty much as I remember it from twenty years ago but I have a feeling in twenty years time it will be hemmed in and under more pressure than ever!
It’s only the first of this rotten month and I am gloomy already! Hey ho I still have sixty-two more photos to find before new years eve!
